Are you actually and truly fulfilled?
Sometimes the dissatisfaction in our lives is simply that: dissatisfaction. It isn’t always depression. We’re just out of sorts and wishing for some kind of change. We want a life with a bit more meaning and plenty more adventure. Something is missing, and it’s a feeling that is always super hard to shake. So, what do you do if you’re ready for a complete change in your personal life itself?
Start with something tiny
Everyone has to be an expert in something entirely useless, which has no actual practical use whatsoever. This pursuit will be anything from learning to make friendship bracelets to knitting. The key here is to find something to try for no other reason than this: it interested you and appeared like fun. Here is your chance to require up a brand new hobby. Maybe try to discover if you have any musical talent? It doesn’t have to be monetized. Just try something for fun.
Get Outside of your normal routine
We all have to push ourselves a bit when making fundamental changes in our lives. What can you do that can take you to new heights in something you may previously have avoided? For instance, if you are not comfortable with speech, why not join some Clubhouse rooms or Twitter spaces to practice? It may feel scary, but that’s the whole point.
Read new books
What’s the last book you’ve read? If you are someone who can’t answer this quickly, you are not alone. 27% of adults haven’t picked up a book within the last year. With books on every subject, you’ll be able to imagine, there’s guaranteed to be something that interests you. Why not browse a bookstore and see if there’s something to expand your literary horizons as a part of your fresh start? Also, you can ask your friends for recommendations. If you’re a reader already, challenge yourself to a brand new genre you don’t usually read.
No, you are not going offline forever. But to keep things exciting and provide yourself a fresh appreciation for social media, put off the apps for the weekend. Instead, re-discover life outside of a phone.
Get outside and hike. Explore a museum without taking photos. Read that new book. You never know; this just may become your new favorite weekend activity!
Connect with your key people
When’s the last time you called up a friend or relative that you enjoy just to talk? Your clean slate should include time for relationships. Get together for a virtual date, take a walk together, or do a movie night via Zoom. Reconnecting can offer a new sense of perspective and deepen your most important relationships.
Having a more exciting life is all about doing more exciting things. The key here is intentionality and rediscovery to enjoy a clean slate in your personal life. Don’t feel overwhelmed as if this new path will require an overhaul. Starting small is still a new beginning.
