You don’t have to wait for New Year’s Day to set a resolution and turn your life around. Sometimes, calling in an energy reset is more accessible than we think.

How do you know whether or not an energy reset is in order? If you’re feeling stuck, stagnant, or experiencing telltale signs of burnout, you may have needed one for a while.

It can all sound very odd or difficult to wrap your mind around, but putting an energy reset into motion is actually a straightforward, effective, and accessible way to the first step of significant progress in times like these.

The best part? Anyone can do it, and no new tools are necessary.

1. Meditate & Ground

Chances are, you’ve already heard the glowing, life-changing reviews for the practice of meditation. Maybe you’re an expert, or perhaps the idea of sitting still changing your life causes you to raise an eyebrow.

No matter where you fall on either side of the spectrum, the power of meditation does always have the potential to surprise you with its effectiveness.

But using it to energy reset is less about rewiring your brain in some magical way and more about seeking peace within your headspace.

Meditation experts point out that the age-old practice is about finding quiet and tuning in with the self. When you sit and ground yourself in the present moment, you’re also being present with you, and we don’t always get to do that in our day-to-day lives, often subsumed in other people’s business.

Find 10-15 minutes of quiet, and see how it feels to intentionally say hello to you, and only you, in an act of meditation.

2. Sweep Up That Energetic Dust

You could always go for a literal energy cleanse, but shaking up your physical space is one of the most significant age-old methods of dusting away energetic waste.

Think: our traditions surrounding “spring cleaning.” Or go global, and note how on Chinese New Year, those who celebrate this time are actually forbidden from cleaning at risk of sweeping away all the good luck that the New Year brings in.

Cleaning is that much of a powerful agent of moving our energy around.

Even if it’s a slight touch, sometimes moving around familiar objects in your space can refresh how you process your surroundings.

In other words, if you’re feeling stagnant or stuck, cleaning and reorganizing is one of the simplest ways to exercise control in one of the most obvious ways that you can.

3. Schedule Refresh

Hear us out — we’re not suggesting that you rearrange your life around and throw away your current routines!

However, it’s true that sometimes what contributes to a stagnant or unpleasant energy lingering around is… a stale or unpleasant schedule (go figure).

Rather than reorchestrate the fabric of your lifestyle, however, this tactic is way more about utilizing those small free periods that you get more mindfully. If it’s a spare 10 minutes, you could be scheduling a journal session or a simple meditation instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media. (No shame — we all do it).

Just remember: ultimately, this isn’t about maximizing your time to its most effective ideal, but exercising mindfulness as you use it.

4. Generating gratitude

An underrated method of pulling yourself into a state of ease is exercising gratitude for what already exists in your life.

Gratitude has been shown to improve health and lessen anxiety symptoms, being a beacon of light and positivity even in the dimmest of places. When we actively foster an appreciation for even the most minor things in our lives, the world can feel a whole lot brighter.

The practice of gratitude can come in the form of a journal, a jar, or a regular ol’ list, all containing people, places, experiences, or items you’re blessed to possess.

Refer to your gratitude list or catalog whenever you need a pick-me-up, and watch as your gratitude becomes the gift that keeps on giving.

Say “Hello” to the Power of You

These methods may seem simple — almost too simple — to be strong enough to expel the uncomfortable or stale energy you’re experiencing.

But the truth is that they all tap into a unique principle that we often lose sight of: the power you genuinely hold in harnessing your own time, space, and — of course — energy to your advantage.

Whether you’re feeling inclined to push through every method with ease and finesse or just want to test run a simple meditation session, the power rests in your hands.

It can feel silly to say, but it’s true: resetting the old and saying “hello” to the new is also saying “hello” to the power of you.
